O’Connell Street

O’Connell Street is located 350 metres and just 3 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The capital’s main street is home to the ‘Spire’, a 120m high striking and innovative monument in the middle of the street just across from the historic GPO. O’Connell Street is at the heart of Dublin city and is walking distance of attractions such as Trinity College, Temple Bar and Dublin’s main retail high streets, Grafton Street and Henry Street.

Trinity College

Trinity College is located only a 1.2 kilometre stroll from the hotel. One of Ireland’s leading historical sites, it attracts half a million visitors every year. The university is the oldest in Ireland and holds within its library the Book of Kells; a must see for any tourist.

The Guinness Storehouse

The Guinness Storehouse is situated 2.5 kilometres from the hotel and only a short taxi drive or a short bus journey away. At St. James Gate you can enjoy the Guinness story from beginning to end at the Guinness Storehouse tour. Then relax with a complimentary pint of the black stuff in the Gravity Bar  – the highest bar in Dublin, with 360 degree views over the city. It is one of the best brewery tours in Ireland, marrying food, drink, heritage and history.

The Old Jameson Distillery

The Old Jameson Distillery Bow Street is just 1km from Maldron Hotel Parnell Square. Jameson Distillery is a must-see for all whiskey enthusiasts. The tour is extremely insightful as it follows the different stages in the distilling process. Following the tour, you are treated to a whiskey tasting in the Jameson bar.

Dublin Writers Museum

Dublin Writers Museum is situated just around the corner from the hotel in Parnell Square. The collection features the lives and works of Ireland’s greatest literary geniuses. The Garden of Remembrance is located just 100 metres from the hotel. Dublin City Gallery

Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane is located around the corner just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. This Dublin city gallery is the oldest gallery of modern and contemporary art with interesting collections of paintings, sculpture, drawings and Francis Bacon’s studio. Admission to the gallery is free.

Temple Bar

Temple Bar is just a short walk across the Liffey and is one of the main cultural quarters in the city. It is very popular for eating, socialising and having a great night out. This social quarter is situated within a 10-minute stroll from Maldron Hotel Parnell Square. The famous Irish pubs, many of which have been open since the eighteenth century, are known to serve the best pints of Guinness in the world. There are several theories about the origin of the Temple Bar name, but one of the most commonly believed ones it that it comes from a Temple family, who lived there in the mid 1600s. Another theory is that the quarter is named after the Temple region in London.
